Taking a Step for the Lord!
* Here we are at another obstacle in the way. Seems like the children of Israel have one battle after another, or one obstacle after another. Sounds just like how our lives are. In vs. 1 Joshua told them they was going to pass over Jordan. In vs. 3 he tells them they will have to remove from their place. And in vs. 4 he tells them they are passing a way they have not been before. Our life has a lot of uncharted territory. To get to where God wants us we are going to take a step. Lets look to this section of scripture to see how to Take a step for the Lord.
1.
Step out: vs. 14A. remove from their tents
B. get out of your comfort zone, step out on faith
C. tent= contentment
2.
Step up: vs. 15aA. they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan
B. take the challenge I have decided to follow Jesus
C. sometimes we just need to step up
3.
Step in: vs. 15bA. were dipped in
B. others behind probably said we’re right behind you easy to say
if you don’t step in
C. this takes faith because Jordan overflowed all his banks
4.
Step on; vs. 17aA. stood firm on dry ground
B. they didn’t stand on dry ground until they step in
C. it might look muddy but go ahead step in so you can step on
5.
Step over: vs. 17bA. people were passed clean over Jordan
B. if we go we prepare the way for others, because after they took
the steps others could go though to
C. taking the steps will help you get over those obstacles in your
life, or overcome that which is overflowing, and may seem unsurpassable.
Conclusion: Do you need to take a step for the Lord. He said draw nigh to him and he would draw nigh to you.
