A Place for the Ark of God
1 Chronicles 15:1-3
Intro: That the ark was designed to be a symbol of the presence of God in the midst of His people. The ark was behind the vail in the temple. It was where the mercy seat was, the place where God said he would meet with or commune with man. Jesus is that place now. We get to God through Jesus. Here they was moving the ark and there was some things involved with moving the ark here in this scripture. Let us look at how they got the ark to that prepared place.
1. The Qualification to Move; vs. 1-10
A. only Levites could carry the ark, Levites were the priesthood
B. the Bible calls those who are saved a royal priesthood 1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
2. The Sanctification of The Mover; vs. 11-14
A. they had to sanctify their selves for the move
B. to even move with God’s presence we must be sanctified 2 Timothy 2:21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
C. some might be qualified to do a work for God but that don’t mean they are sanctified for the work, but one can never be sanctified without being qualified first
3. The Transportation of The Moved; vs. 15
A. the priests carried the ark on their shoulders
B. do we shoulder the responsibility of the work we do for God?
C. do we carry the presence of God with us?
4. The Celebration of The Move; vs. 25-28
A. vs. 25 they moved the ark with joy (when God moves there should be joy)
B. vs. 28 they were singing and shouting because of the move, do we have that when the presence of God moves?
C. there is a celebration when God moves
5. The Condemnation of the Moving; vs. 28
A. out of the celebration David was dancing and playing
B. and she despised him in her heart
C. some want like the way we act because of the move of God
