What can we do for our children?

At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

"And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea." Matthew 18:1-6

* We will stand before God and give an account for the way we raise our children. The fact of the matter is we hate the thought of our children growing up and leaving home, but it is our job as parents to raise them to live without us, to be on their own. Here is 6 major things we can do for

1. Teach them; Deuteronomy 6:7

And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

2. Train them; Proverbs 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

3. Provide for them; 2 Corinthians 12:14

Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.

4. Nurture them; Ephesians 6:4

And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

5. Control them; 1 Timothy 3:4

One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;

6. Love them; Titus 2:4

That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

Conclusion: How we raise our children reflects how we live. What path are we helping our children go down? Do we lead them by example?
